The UltraPusherTE eliminates or significantly reduces the jarring force of angle or head-on obstacle strikes. It’s all about the sideplates, cushioned and floating.
First, angle strikes.
SnowWolf has attached urethane die springs to the sideplates to give them as much as 10 inches of flex in or out depending on the direction of the strike.
Say you’re pushing snow to the edge of a parking lot and you don’t see the stray parking block hidden under the deep blanket of snow. Who could? Your snowpusher strikes the parking block, hard, at a 40-degree angle.
If your snowpusher has fixed, intractable sideplates, you’re in for a big, teeth-rattling jolt. Ouch. Not to mention you could damage your attachment. Double ouch. Or your skid steer. Triple ouch.
With an UltraPusherTE, the urethane die spring expands to allow the sideplate to flex in. The attachment slides past the obstacle, there are no cracked molars or forearms into the windshield, and you know the block is there so you can avoid it on the next pass.
Next, head-on strikes.
The UltraPusherTE handles these strikes smoothly, as well, thanks to floating sideplates.
SnowWolf’s inventive design for sideplate-to-moldboard connection consists of one bolt on the lower end of each sideplate that acts as a pivot, and another near the top that goes through, and travels along, a semicircular cutout.
When the UltraPusherTE’s angled, AR400 steel sideplate shoes encounter an obstacle head on, they rise and the attachment system allows the sideplate to rotate upward. Since the sideplates are connected to the moldboard, the full assembly rises, the edge is unharmed, the attachment is A-OK and the obstacle is not damaged. Most importantly, you’re safe and sound.
The cushioned sideplates are going to make you faster, too.
A whole bunch of pressure is exerted on a snowpusher sideplate when it strikes an obstacle at an angle. That’s why most regular snowpushers include sideplate-to-moldboard struts in the box; without them, the sideplates would bend inward.
The thicker-than-standard, 3/8-inch-steel sideplates on the UltraPusherTE flex, so there’s next to no chance they’re going to bend, there’s no need for extra support and there’s no way we’re going to add that extra weight if we don’t have to.
OK, awesome, but how does that equate to speed? you ask. Great question.
A common problem with support struts is snow gets caught in the joints where they connect to the sideplates and moldboard. The farther ahead you push, the more snow gets caught in the box. As material accumulates, what we call “live rolling” goes away.
Live rolling refers to the action of snow when it moves up the moldboard and starts curling back toward the ground. As you move ahead, the snow forms what is like a rolling log of snow in front of your machine. This is the most efficient way to move snow.
The alternative is pushing the “dead” weight of snow piling up in front of your machine. Either you stop regularly to clean out the material or your capacity diminishes with each pass. You wind up going slower and losing fuel efficiency in the process, or you have to makes more passes, which also slows you down. Poor efficiency. Poor productivity. (And poor you if you don’t have an UltraPusherTE.)
This is where the “TE” comes in.
With this equipment, TE could be short for Trailblazing Equipment, Total Effectiveness or Trouble Evaded. It might just as easily stand for Task Executed, Time Efficient or even Triumph Expected.
But TE really means Trip Edge, and the UltraPusherTE’s trip edge is going to keep you safer, even as its cutting edge gives you an incredibly clean scrape.
The cutting edge on the UltraPusherTE is 6 solid inches of steel. This is tough stuff that not only lasts a long time, but also scrapes under snowpack and ice better than other edges. The cutting edge sections are connected to 3-inch steel extensions. The resulting 9-inch, spring-loaded trip edge provides all the clearance you need to go right over obstacles.
